Help Put God's Word for the Oilpatch Into an Oilfield Worker's Hands

Oilfield work demands a lot from people.
Long hours. Remote locations. Time away from family. Dangerous conditions. Changing schedules. Pressure to get the job done safely and on time. Some days are spent on a rig or lease site. Other days are spent in a camp, behind the wheel of a truck, or in a downtown Calgary office supporting the work in the field.
In all of these places, oilfield workers need more than physical strength and technical skill. They need hope, wisdom, courage, and the good news of Jesus Christ.
That is why Calgary Oilfield Christian Fellowship helps put “God’s Word for the Oilpatch” into the hands of oilfield workers.
And you can help.
What is “God’s Word for the Oilpatch”?
“God’s Word for the Oilpatch” is a Bible created with oilfield workers in mind. It uses the New Living Translation and includes stories, testimonies, and reflections from people who understand the oil and gas industry.
This is not a Bible written for people who have never seen a lease site or worked a night shift. It speaks to the realities of oilfield life: the risk, the responsibility, the travel, the uncertainty, and the strong relationships formed among crews.
The Bible points readers to the same lasting truth:
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105
For a worker facing a difficult season, Scripture can provide direction. For someone who feels alone in a camp or truck cab, it can be a reminder that God is near. For someone asking questions about faith, it can be an open door to meet Jesus.

Where do the Bibles go?
A donated Bible may travel farther than many people realize.
Calgary Oilfield Christian Fellowship helps distribute Bibles in places where oilfield workers live, work, and gather, including:
Oilfield camps and camp common areas
Rig sites and field locations
Service trucks and work vehicles
Shops, yards, and equipment facilities
Reception areas and downtown Calgary offices
The hands of individual workers and crew members
Some Bibles are placed where workers can pick one up for themselves. Others are given directly by a friend, coworker, chaplain, volunteer, or fellow believer.
That personal connection matters. A Bible offered with genuine care can begin a conversation that might not happen anywhere else.

Why does this matter to oilfield workers?
Oilfield workers often carry responsibilities that are not visible to everyone else.
They may be providing for their families while spending weeks away from home. They may be working through fatigue, uncertainty, or a difficult personal situation. They may be surrounded by people every day and still feel isolated. They may have questions about God but not know who to ask.
A Bible does not remove every challenge. But it brings God’s Word close to someone who may need it.
Scripture speaks honestly about fear, grief, temptation, work, relationships, forgiveness, and hope. It reminds us that our identity is not found only in our job title, paycheque, performance, or reputation.
Jesus said:
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
That invitation is for oilfield workers, too.
When you donate to help distribute “God’s Word for the Oilpatch,” you are helping make that invitation available in a practical way. You are helping place Scripture in a truck, a bunkhouse, a camp lobby, a shop, or an office where someone can read it when the time is right.
Your donation helps start conversations
The ministry of Calgary Oilfield Christian Fellowship is not only about handing out books. It is about building relationships and sharing Christ with fellow oilfield workers.
A Bible can lead to a question:
“Have you read this before?”
“What does this passage mean?”
“Why did you give this to me?”
“Can we talk about faith?”
“Would you pray for me?”
Those conversations can be simple and unplanned. They may happen over coffee before a shift, in a camp common room, beside a truck, or during a breakfast meeting in downtown Calgary.
God often uses small acts of faithfulness in ways we cannot see. A Bible placed in the right hands may be read immediately, or years later. Either way, God’s Word is working.
As the apostle Paul wrote:
“So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” Romans 10:17
Your support helps make that hearing possible.
Support the mission through a Calgary breakfast
One great way to support oilfield workers and the Bible distribution ministry is to attend an Oilfield Christian Fellowship fundraising breakfast.
These meetings bring together people from across the oil and gas community for food, fellowship, encouragement, and a clear reminder of the saving grace of Jesus Christ. They also help raise support for getting Bibles into the oilpatch.
The next event is the Oilfield Christian Fellowship November Breakfast 2026:

How you can help today
There are several practical ways to support this ministry:

Put God’s Word in someone’s hands
You may never know exactly what happens after a Bible is given away.
Maybe a worker reads it during a night shift. Maybe a family member finds it in a truck. Maybe someone opens it after receiving difficult news. Maybe a crew member starts asking questions about faith. Maybe a person who has been far from God begins reading again.
Our part is to be faithful. God’s part is to use His Word.
“It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” Isaiah
